What is the largest gauge wire you can fuse for creating fine silver jewelry?
By largest gauge, I mean the smallest diameter wire. I was told in a class to use 14 gauge, but want to go more fine.
In general, the thinner (larger gauge) your silver wire is, the easier it is to fuse it. This is because for a given amount of heat (your flame), a smaller volume would heat faster and would dissipate less heat to the ambient.
On the other hand, when working with large gauge silver wires it is more difficult to keep the fused section focused at a fine region.
